For many centuries, the crucifix has been an everlasting symbol of faith for many Catholics and Orthodox Church members.  Many believe that the crucifix represents the sacrifices made by Jesus Christ, as a basis for the religion.  Today it is also a fashion statement for many.  The crucifix ring and crucifix pendant is a popular style of jewelry for both men and women.  There are many variations of the crucifix ring or crucifix pendant.  Some are designed with the body of Jesus on the cross and others do not portray Jesus at all.  This piece of jewelry makes a perfect gift for almost any occasion. For centuries upon centuries, the crucifix has been featured on almost every type and style of jewelry.  Men, women, children, priests, and non-religious individuals have worn the crucifix as either a statement of religious devotion or personal style.  Despite it being such an age-old design, you are still able to find such jewelry in almost any store.  It is easy to find a crucifix ring, a crucifix pendant, or even a pair of earrings in the shape of the crucifix.  Anyone interested in adorning himself or herself with a piece of jewelry in the shape of a crucifix can go into almost any jewelry shop or online jewelry retailer.  There is a plethora of jewelry designed to include a crucifix, either empty or with Jesus.

The crucifix ring is thought to be of Scottish origin, probably around the late nineteenth century.  The traditional crucifix ring was intended as a visible sign of one’s faith in Jesus Christ.  The crucifix ring was originally intended as an accessory similar in nature to the ever so popular crucifix pendant or necklace.  These pieces come in gold, white gold, sterling silver, platinum, and even palladium.  Additionally, depending on how large the piece is, semi-precious and precious gemstones may also be included within the design.

Typically, for those devout Catholics and Orthodox Church members, the crucifix is a very special icon.  It is a symbol of the religion’s faith.  Generally, the crucifix is a simple cross, comprised of a vertical and horizontal line.  The cross is usually empty and symbolizes Jesus Christ’s death and resurrection.  Because of its symbolism, many people wear the crucifix ring for reasons of Faith.  However, many also choose to wear the pendant or crucifix ring as a fashion statement.

A crucifix ring may be purchased for any occasion in which jewelry is a staple gift.  It can be an appropriate gift for someone’s birthday, anniversary, confirmation, wedding, engagement, first communion, Easter, a christening, Christmas, or for just about any other event or reason.  Usually, to devoted Catholics, a crucifix is a most treasured item and will be a cherished gift.  One of the most common gifts at a christening is a crucifix pendant or necklace for the child, usually given by one or both of the godparents.

Depending on personal style, the crucifix ring will be simple or more ornate.  Regardless of whether one will wear this piece of jewelry as a symbol of his or her devoutness to the Catholic Church and the teachings of Jesus Christ, or as a simple statement of fashion, the crucifix ring and crucifix pendant are both classic examples of religiously inspired jewelry.  Such a common piece of jewelry can be found easily online or in regular brick and mortar jewelry shops.
